How Attitude is Everything in Hospitality

Join this re-post of one of our favorite blogs from the old site. In it, AYS alum Caitlin Havron reflects on how attitude is everything in hospitality.

Our motto here at At Your Service Staffing is “Attitude is Everything.”  At Your Service Staffing was built on the concept that you can teach new hires how to set a table, take a dinner order or make a drink, but you cannot teach someone to have a good attitude.  While that concept may be universal across many jobs, it is particularly important when it comes to the hospitality industry.  The word “hospitality,” is defined as “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.”  We are in the business of making sure people have a good time.  You cannot do that without having a positive outlook and a friendly disposition.

CEO of Union Square (and AYS hero) Danny Meyer told NEW YORK MAGAZINE, “Service is delivering on your promise. Hospitality is making people feel good while you’re delivering on that promise.”  We are not just an exchange of services – it is our mission to make sure our staff are able to provide you with the assistance you need, and they do so with a smile on their faces.  AYS does not provide food, entertainment or linens – we provide people.  We add the human element to each and every event.  The right people are the key to making a guest or client feel welcome, so it is imperative we are providing happy and willing individuals.  We fill all kinds of waiter and bar positions, so it’s vital that our staff are flexible to do a multitude of job descriptions and maintain an upbeat attitude.

Hosting an event, no matter what type of party it is -  a wedding, shower or even a conference - should be a memorable experience for everyone involved.  Let us help you remember your special day by bringing in staff with the “right stuff” – a great attitude!
